After a busy 2023 season between DS Penske in FIA Formula E and Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in FIA WEC, Jean-Eric Vergne is eager to start the 2024 season at the wheel of the #93 PEUGEOT 9X8. Before that he told us about his last season and his expectations for 2024.

You had quite a busy schedule this year with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, DS Penske in Formula E, but also a wedding and all of this while being a young father, how did you cope with this very busy life?

“For sure it was a busy schedule, but I’ve chosen it and with the support of my family and both teams, that are like family now, there were never any issues. Never during the season I felt that it was too much, that I was tired or that it could have affected my performance. It was a lot, but it was a good season. And the good thing is, I won’t have a second wedding this year!”

Can you tell us more about your season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies and what your favourite moment was?

“The best moment for sure was the podium we managed to get in Monza. Obviously, we had more lows than highs, it was a rough start, but we stuck together all season long. We improved the car a lot, as well as the team’s performance so I think that next season we can only get stronger. We will have several upgrades on the car and I think that we will be more prepared facing the challenges and the competition of the coming season. This year is going to be fantastic with so many manufacturers and Hypercars, we will have great battles on track, and I can’t wait to get this season started. I think it’s going to be really fun and probably one of the best seasons in FIA WEC I have ever been in.”

What does 2024 look like for you in general (WEC + FE)?

“I hope it’s going to be a better season than in 2023 where I had a win in FIA Formula E, a couple of podiums, another podium in FIA WEC so now I hope to get more win in FE and more podiums in WEC. My dream is still to be world champion in both categories and championships, that would be my ultimate goal and I’m working very hard to achieve it. It’s going to be busy again but I’m ready for it and I’m’ hungry for more success for the 2024 season.”
