Nico Müller completed his first season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in 2023 in FIA WEC at the wheel of the #94 PEUGEOT 9X8 with Loïc Duval and Gustavo Menezes. This season was very busy for the Swiss driver as he was also driving in Formula E with ABT Cupra. Even if the season was challenging on a sporting point of view, he is very confident for the future thanks to the united team that is Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.

You had a double program this season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies and ABT Cupra in Formula E, how did you find your balance between the two championships?

“It was a huge privilege to be part of two programs in two FIA World Championships. I’m very proud to have been able to represent Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in FIA WEC and to balance it with my commitment in Formula E with Cupra. I think it worked very well, we knew since the beginning that preparation was going to be key in order for the season to go smoothly, and an evenly spread workload. All the parties were very understanding to make sure that I could perform at my highest level.

“Another aspect of this double programme is to be able to jump between two different cars. I think the more different the cars are the easier it becomes to go from one to the other.  As it feels so different in terms of driving style, driving attribute needed to perform well, my adaptation time is better, and I see only benefits to drive several cars over a season as I can fine tune my skill. This season worked very well, I’m very happy and I look forward to continuing that way.”

Tell us more about your first season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.

“On the sporting side, my first full season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies was a challenging one, that’s not a secret. I think that we are all in this to try to win together. Our aims are high but the project is still young, and needs time to get the opportunity to show what we can do.

“On the human side, from the team perspective, I think it was a really enriching experience, with big challenges, some disappointments to overcome, to see everybody stick together, stay united and push for the common goal without ever giving up, was very positive. We have the ingredients we need to become very successful as a team and I’m sure that next season we can make some big steps forward and make sure these aspects are turned into results.”

What was your favourite moment this season?

“The top moment of my season clearly was Le Mans. First because it was the centenary race that made it even more special, with all the tension we had, the amount of people there supporting us, representing a French manufacturer in this amazing event was a true honour. Then, the race itself was also very exciting, I got to take the start which was very special. We managed straight away to move forward in the first moments of the race, and then my four-hour stint in the middle of the night, with challenging weather conditions. I did my first lead laps around Le Mans, staying in the battle, great strategy calls, we made no mistakes up to that point so everything went well. We were able to show that if everything goes our way we can fight for the win in the biggest race in the world, in the top class and in the golden era of motor racing. So yes, I would rate that as my top moment of the 2023 FIA WEC season.”
