6 Hours of Fuji: Team Peugeot TotalEnergies aims to confirm their performance at the foot of Mount Fuji

• After securing their best team result in Texas (3rd and 4th), Team Peugeot TotalEnergies aims to keep up the momentum at the 6 Hours of Fuji.

• The Japanese round marks the 100th race of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) since its launch in 2012… and the 25th race for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.

• Stoffel Vandoorne, who made his debut behind the wheel of the PEUGEOT 9X8 at Fuji in 2023, will contest his final race with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.

Barely has the immense joy of the Lone Star Le Mans, where both PEUGEOT 9X8s finished in the top 4, faded, and Team Peugeot TotalEnergies must now focus on the 6 Hours of Fuji, the penultimate round of the 2025 season and the 100th race in FIA WEC history. It will also mark Peugeot’s 25th world endurance race since returning to the discipline.

“Plenty of good reasons to perform again,” said Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of Stellantis Motorsport. “This will be our fourth participation at the foot of the Sacred Mountain, and Fuji-san has always been kind to us. While acceleration at the start of the straight was difficult with the first 9X8, the circuit suits our 2024 9X8 much better. Last year, we finished 4th after a very challenging race in Austin. So, hopes of another podium are valid, but we know that in WEC, nothing is guaranteed, and the team will need to stay very focused.”

Opened in 1965 and extensively revamped in 2005, the Fuji Speedway (4.563 km) is a varied circuit featuring a very long straight (1,475 m) – one of the longest among FIA Grade 1 circuits – and a highly technical infield with a dozen corners out of its 16-turn layout. It’s a track well-known and much appreciated by Team Peugeot TotalEnergies drivers like Loïc Duval and Stoffel Vandoorne, both of whom have raced (and won) in various Japanese series.

The Belgian driver, who made his racing debut in the PEUGEOT 9X8 at the 2023 6 Hours of Fuji, will take part in his final race with the team at the foot of Mount Fuji. He will be replaced in Bahrain by Théo Pourchaire, who has been announced as a full-time driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in 2026, alongside New Zealander Nick Cassidy.

The PEUGEOT 9X8s will take to the Fuji Speedway on Friday, September 26 for two Free Practice sessions. The following day, after the traditional “Circuit Safari”, where Hypercar prototypes share the track with buses full of enthusiastic fans, Qualifying will take place at 3:00 PM local time. The start of the 2025 6 Hours of Fuji will be on Sunday, September 28, at 11:00 AM local time (4:00 AM French time).
