–       The day after the 8 Hours of Bahrain, Mathias Beche, Nick Cassidy, Malthe Jakobsen, and Alexander Quinn took the wheel of the PEUGEOT 9X8 on the Sakhir circuit.

–       Nick Cassidy, confirmed as a full-time driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in 2026, set the second-fastest lap of the day.

–       Malthe Jakobsen also completed several laps to gather valuable data in preparation for the upcoming season.

Immediately after the finish of the 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday evening at 10:00 p.m., the technical staff of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies went straight back to work to prepare the two PEUGEOT 9X8s for the following day’s test. The night was extremely short for the mechanics and engineers, but by mid-morning, the Lionesses were ready to welcome their drivers for the day: Mathias Beche, Nick Cassidy, Malthe Jakobsen, and Alex Quinn.

The Danish driver, Malthe Jakobsen, was tasked with setting a reference lap time on Medium tyres in the #94 before Nick Cassidy took over. The New Zealander, who had already tested the PEUGEOT 9X8 in Austin, completed around thirty laps and recorded the fifth-fastest time of the morning (1min50s436). Meanwhile, Alex Quinn and Mathias Beche shared the #93, each completing 17 laps.

In the afternoon, Malthe Jakobsen carried out a development programme behind the wheel of the #94.

“The Rookie Test is an important day because our testing opportunities during the year are limited. The more laps we can complete, the more data we can collect with both cars over five hours of running. We had a busy program with several items to check and test. It’s also an opportunity for new drivers like Mathias or Alex to try the car and share their feedback. It’s essential preparation for next season.”

Alex, Mathias, and Nick took turns driving the #93. The New Zealander set the second-fastest time of the session (1min49s376), while both rookies also completed some very competitive laps.

Nick Cassidy

“It was a really great day of running here in Bahrain — very important, as every lap completed is one more step toward 2026. This circuit causes much more tyre degradation than Austin, so it was interesting to get a good understanding of that. I have a really good feeling with the team — everything is going perfectly.”

Alex Quinn

“I really enjoyed this session. There was a lot to learn, especially about all the systems and how the car behaves with them — it’s very complex. The PEUGEOT 9X8 is much more powerful than the cars I usually drive, but I felt really comfortable behind the wheel. I had two amazing days with the team; it truly feels like a family. I was made to feel very welcome.”

Mathias Beche

“This was a great opportunity, and I want to thank the entire team for welcoming me so warmly and helping me get comfortable with the car. I was able to train on the simulator beforehand and get familiar with the systems, which was crucial before arriving here. I think what the team was looking for was a different kind of feedback from that of the official drivers. Bahrain is a demanding circuit that requires precision to manage tyre degradation effectively.
I hope I was able to provide useful data for the future. I’m very proud to have driven the PEUGEOT 9X8.”
